Welcome to Western Maine Health

Timothy A. Churchill, President and CEO, is pleased to announce that Stephens Memorial Hospital will be receiving the 2013 Leapfrog Top Rural Hospital award at a ceremony on December 3, 2013 in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Churchill states, “There is a significant amount of work that goes into the quality initiatives at Stephens Memorial Hospital.  Our Board of Trustees, our Medical Staff, and all of our employees are committed to providing exceptional quality care to our patients.  This award recognizes that commitment."

The field of hospitals considered for this year’s elite Leapfrog Top Hospital distinction was more competitive than ever with 1,324 hospitals participating. There are only 22 rural hospitals in the country to receive the Top Leapfrog Rural Hospital award. Miles Memorial Hospital, another member of the MaineHealth system, is also a Top Leapfrog Rural Hospital.

We are a proud member of MaineHealth, Maine's largest integrated health system of leading high-quality providers and other healthcare organizations working together to make our communities the healthiest in America.
